SFIF 30 Day Free-Writing Challenge

Get in on the first SFIF writing challenge AND learn about how I work with the kids + other adults like you! This year, I started building a network of creatives and entrepreneurs to help me craft creative programming + stories for schools. My mission is to help kids deal with their feelings. As an english teacher + creative writer, my goal is to teach kids (and adults) how to use the arts to feel good! I'm fighting suicide and depression. Who is with me?!

If you are down to do the challenge I do with my kids every AM, reply to me direct, and I will start a new thread with those that are confirmed. If you want to get more friends in this, do it. Email me their name + email. Let's do this!

Here's how it works:

  1. I send you prompts (see some below to start you off).
  2. You select one in the AM or PM and write.
  3. You email the thread with your prompt + writing (unedited - let's be real)
  4. We spread positive VIBES and love. This is a safe space.
  5. You feel good or better understand how you have been feeling lately (or maybe for an extended period of time. Shit can get REAL, real fast).

Sample Prompts:

Write about a time when you felt that you had no control

Write about a crazy dream

Write about a secret passion

Write about your perfect moment

Write a poem about an adventure alone

Childhood memory

Something scary

A bad fight

Write down your favorite quote - explain why

Write a b a b dialogue

Use these words: dream, clouds, moon, ameliorate, open

Write about an ephemeral time

So what are you doing?

You are FREEWRITING DAILY, with no page limit. Write as much (or as little) as you please. This process is all about helping you FEEL GOOD and of course to help you #FeelYourWay through all the bullshit

"At the core of the process is a ritual called “morning pages,” based on the belief that writing out three pages of free-form writing, in longhand, each morning, will unclog one’s mental and emotional channels of all the muck that gets in the way of being happy, productive, and creative. "

How to Freewrite:

  1. Clear your mind. Relax. Forget all of the rules concerning grammar. ... what up ee cummings or Gertrude Stein
  2. Set a time limit for yourself. If you are a beginning writer try a ten-minute limit. ...
  3. After you've set a time limit, WRITE. Don't stop. ... Think Virginia Woolf people.
  4. When the time limit is finished, STOP. Write nothing else.
  5. Feel people. Feel.
